Once..
An asian, malay, only a teen
Caught between tradition and trend
Tribulations abound this boy turning man
Dictations of religion did he follow
Yet just the same did the rules he forgo
Prayers he did for goodness and acceptance
Into drunken stupor did he also trance
This was a boy in search for love
From a family that was too busy to know
From friends who could not understand
As well as society that did not comprehend
Lo a rebel!
A brat to be despised
Behold societal trash
This boy should just die!
Words of those who understood not
They spoke of which they knew naught
Of them he held hatred as they did him
Disrespect them he did as they did him
None understood this lonely boy
Those who tried could only sympathise
He needed none of them
Accept he would none of them
Parents tried to reach for him
Elders pestered to guide him
Friends engaged to lure him
Who should he follow?
There once had been a boy
And a confused boy was he
