Lessons of Time
Were it but a day away.
That tomorrow be closer than today.
If but reach could extend beyond time.
And the clock made sublime.
Tamper would I with the path of the sun.
That the nights be longer run.
That ample regard shall be found.
Upon the days that will then be so short.
But then again who is to say.
The lesson to be taught may still go astray.
For the lesson of hours made short.
Truly is the final resort.
And as is seen in history.
Tis' a lesson unlearnt by the hearts of the free.
For walk they still do on island small.
Veiled oblivious by vanity's shawl.
Pick and peck and try you might.
Wracking your brains to find the first step.
But looking beyond with quick sight askew.
Will just leave you blind of the obvious truth.
Thus is the truth of life and the lessons of time. Look back and learn. Tis' a lesson not taught but grasped with the mind that is open.
